Azuda de la Montaña
At the end of the 18th century, with the aim of expanding the irrigated area in the Vega, a hydraulic engineering work known as the “Azuda de la Montaña” was built. The Azuda is a wooden wheel activated by the flow of the canal itself and raised the water to the brick aqueduct that irrigated the “Montaña” estate. In 1844 the totally deteriorated waterwheel was replaced by another of similar dimensions but made of iron. The waterwheel stopped working in 1927 when a motorized irrigation system was installed. This route on horseback is ideal for the family, and is of low difficulty, so no previous experience is required.
